Demotivators

I had to organize a team event today and I remembered these nice demotivating slides I was shown while in Core Consultant.
You might find them cynical and callous at first, but there is certainly truth in them. Anyway, we should take the time to look at the half empty glass every now and then.

To soften the blow there was a cheese & wine tasting, in the good French tradition. I have to say the cheeses I tasted over here are really good.

Go to www.despair.com for more, it's worth the trip.

Phantom phone rings

Did it ever happen to you to think you hear a cell phone ringing but to realize that it was just your imagination?

It used to happen a lot to me some time last year, so I was pretty happy to find this article from IHT that tries to explain it. Apparently we integrate our cell phones in our being as a 5th limb, therefore the brain is 'on standby' for actions coming from it. Also, the frequencies of the ring tones fall into the same range as the cries of a baby and our brain is made especially sensitive for sounds in this range.

Here you go, interesting stuff, enjoy.
