Monkey Mia resort @ Shark Bay reserve

This is a shark ... or not ??? Noo, just wanted to get your adrenaline levels up :) it's a friendly botlenose dolphin from Monkey Mia.

Story tells it that a fisherman's woman started feeding the dolphins at this spot in the 70s. And the dolphins have been coming eversince in the mornings @ 8 am to check and see if there's any free fish to be had.

As you can see in the pictures, they really come very close to the shore and enjoy winking at the tourists like us.

But they're not alone - pelicans and seagulls fight with them for the fish and we even got to see a lost seal wondering around and looking bewildered at what's going on.

Encouraged by this we booked passage on a catamaran, the Aristocat 2, to see much more, but apart from the nice sailing experience and a few more dolphins there was nothing to be seen - because mind you, this is the winter and most of the seacows and sharks have gone out of the bay into the warm current around the coast.
